Real Wedding // Thea & Josh’s Byron View Farm Wedding

Thea & Josh celebrated their wedding on a beautiful spring day at the stunning Byron View Farm. Both originally from the UK, Thea & Josh were after an outdoor setting to celebrate their wedding. They instantly knew after seeing Byron View Farm’s breathtaking 360 degree views and the option to dine under the stars that the venue ticked all the boxes. Byron View Farm offered the ‘luxury escape’ vibe and country feel they were looking for. Read on to hear more about Thea & Josh’s magical day.

Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?

Our paths crossed 10 years ago through mutual friends. We have always known each other but never officially hung out before this time. It started as just fun for the both of us but they say that’s how the best love stories begin.

The funniest part about how the proposal happened, was Josh was at the jewellers planning to buy me a watch for my birthday. After making the lady select a number of different watches to place in front of him, he turned around to the lady and said, “What am I doing, can you please take me to the engagement rings?”

The proposal was a complete surprise in the most romantic setting. Josh had organised a vineyard tour where the buggy dropped us off at the top of the hill for us to make our way back down through the vineyards.

What were the reasons for choosing Byron View Farm as the wedding venue for your special day?

Both being from the UK and knowing how rare it is to be able to have a complete outdoor wedding, that was something that we really wanted to make happen.

Planning a wedding during COVID made it impossible to view venues but from the minute we saw Byron View Farm and the 360 degree views of Byron, we knew it was the one for us! It is so breathtakingly beautiful and paired back.

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?

The vibe we were going for was ‘Luxury Escape’. Us and all of our guests had travelled up to Byron Bay from a small country town in NSW, and with it falling to be the first weekend after the ease of restrictions, it was the most perfect theme. We opted for a very soft and neutral ceremony, to allow the view to speak for itself. We brought the summer vibes for the reception with our bright florals. The sun came out just in time and made the colours pop.

I cannot thank Mikarla from Wilderness Flowers enough. Her work blew me away, walking out of the cottage the morning of and seeing the flowers come together will be a moment I will never forget. Mikarla delivered in every way imaginable.

Were there any wedding suppliers that you particularly loved working with and why?

Everyone really was amazing!

Figtree Pictures made us feel so comfortable. We were able to be ourselves and in the moment. Josh from ELK Film (our Videographer) captured our day exactly how we remember it, so much happiness and love.

Andrew Michael our celebrant was absolutely perfect for us and our day. Andrew really takes the time to know about you and your relationship. His laid back attitude made us instantly feel at ease.

Big appreciation also goes to Jake at JANDA Events as the week leading up to our wedding COVID had other plans and our musicians were stuck in QLD. Jake took the time to read through our notes and the type of music we listen too and found us Gaz who in all honesty, I can’t believe we didn’t find him first. Gaz was so talented, and no one left the dancefloor all night.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?

We really enjoyed the process with Byron Bay Weddings. Maddie was everything you could ever want in a wedding planner. Me and Josh are the most laid-back people you will ever meet and if we didn’t have Maddie, things would have been forgotten. She kept me up to date with all vendors and what needed to be done when.

With all the government rules changing the weeks leading up to the wedding and all our family and friends from the UK not being able to attend, things felt so uneasy. Maddie and Che (Byron Bay Weddings) offered their support through the whole process and were there to answer any questions we had.

When it came down to the day, Jimmy (day coordinator) and the team were incredible. We did not have to worry about a single thing. Everything was taken care of in such detail, and we were left to enjoy ourselves.

Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?

The most important aspect for us was having our reception live streamed for our family and friends to watch from the UK. It was so hard not being able to have them there by our sides, but we wanted to make it as special for them as it was for us. North Coast Events did the best job, there were no issues, and the quality was so clear.

One of the things that stood out to us, was how much time we had to spend by ourselves and amongst our guests. There was never any pressure from Byron Bay Weddings or our suppliers.

Another moment that stood out was the intimate dining experience under the stars. It was so magical sitting just us, taking in the moment and looking out at all of our guests enjoying themselves.

What would be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?

Don’t stress about things that are out of your control. Plans will change and you will have to adapt to new ideas along the way, but everything will work out how its supposed too.

Trust the process and remember the only thing that matters is you two.

The minute I saw Josh at the altar, I knew nothing else mattered.
