Real Wedding // Anika & Felix’s Frida’s Field Wedding

Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?

We met as housemates. We had been chatting online before Felix moved in, but we hadn’t met in person as he was overseas. We both fell in love at first sight! The first few days we spent all our time together, cooking, listening to music, swimming, meeting friends and family. After three days, Felix told me he was going to move out so we could start going on dates. We have pretty much been inseparable ever since! He moved back in six months later and we are still living in our beautiful apartment in Clovelly.

Two years exactly after we met, we had a weekend away in Mudgee and we had a beautiful hamper/wine and Felix popped the question! We were staying in a beautiful tiny home with a bath and it was magical. We came home and Felix had organised a surprise engagement party at our house with all our friends and family.

What were the reasons for choosing Frida’s Field as the venue for your special day?

Frida’s Field is absolutely gorgeous! We wanted a venue that felt less traditionally ‘wedding’ focused and felt like a big long lunch/drinks. We loved the food and wine there and wanted to focus on having a relaxed day in one venue. It fit us perfectly.

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?

We wanted it to feel homely, minimal, cosy. We love hosting and wanted it to feel like an extension of our own home with a few special touches.

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?

Olivia at Frida’s Field was absolutely amazing. She made us feel really comfortable from the get go and ran the day perfectly. All the staff at Frida’s Field were also so amazing and professional but in a very relaxed way, which suited what we wanted for the day.

We also loved working with Gary from Flow Records – we felt like we had made friends by the end of the process.

Brendan Back our photographer was also amazing and made us feel really comfortable the whole day! We got our photos back really fast and have had so many comments about how beautiful they are.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?

It was really beautiful to have something that we created together for friends and family. We felt like we were able to make the wedding our own with guidance from, Maddie, who was extremely communicative and understood the energy we wanted on the day.

Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?

The most important aspect for us was that we were relaxed. The professionalism of all the vendors meant we could switch off and really enjoy every moment.

We wanted good food, good wine, lots of dancing and a lot of love – which is exactly what we got.

We also really wanted to have an afterparty so Byron Bay was the best location for us to be able to show all our friends and family the beautiful region but also be able to carry on late into the night. Our overseas guests absolutely loved Byron Bay and it was so special being up there with everyone.

What would be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?

The most important part of the day is spending time with your family and friends and with the person you have chosen to spend your life with.

I think my biggest piece of advice is that whilst details are important to create the vibe/energy – it’s more important to soak in the love with your partner and the people you are around. Don’t stress the small stuff. If you are with the right person, everything will fall into place.

Also, don’t check the weather app as it changes all the time and there’s no point stressing about it. The professionals will guide you if plans need to change.
