Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?

Daniel and I met at the local netball courts when I was just fourteen years old! We became such good friends and it turned into more than that a few years later.

Daniel roped me along on what I thought was a work trip up north, we stopped along the way at Sawtell Beach for a surf and when we got back in, he rushed back to his towel to get the ring and then proposed! It was such a surprise and couldn’t have been more perfect.

What were the reasons for choosing Byron View Farm as the venue for your special day?

My younger sister lived in Byron Bay a couple of years ago and worked as a wedding florist and would go to the most beautiful venues, and Byron View Farm was a stand-out for her!

When it was time to start planning my wedding, my older sister actually had a dream I got married at Byron View Farm and I literally didn’t second guess it and knew that was the sign I needed and booked it that week!

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?

We wanted to create a beautiful but relaxed garden party. Being normally drawn to neutrals I wanted the day to be bright and colourful. I still kept it within a colour scheme and let my sister, who was the florist, do the rest!

I thought the venue spoke for itself so I wanted that to be the statement. I always pictured getting married and dining under the stars with fairy lights above, with delicious food, good music with the best company. Byron View Farm couldn’t have been a more perfect venue for what I envisioned!

Were there any wedding vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?

Sophia Wilde literally made my wedding flower dreams come true! She is truly so talented at what she does, only showing Sophie a few inspirational photos and I trusted her with the rest. I couldn’t have dreamt for anything more beautiful than what she created that day for us. The flowers set the whole vibe for the wedding!

And my cousin-in-law Sean Ziggy Sonter who was my videographer and the biggest legend!

And Amelia Fullerton my photographer who was so lovely and warm, the two of them couldn’t have captured the day more perfectly and made it feel so easy and fun!

What were your favourite parts of the wedding planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?

My wedding planner, Maddie! Who couldn’t have been any more sweet and helpful throughout the whole process. I never thought of how much actually goes into a wedding and Maddie really made sure every part was easy, stress-free and fun!

It really helped that my super organised sister got married only a few months prior to mine, so between the two of them, I was sorted.

Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?

Honestly, being surrounded by the people we love and cherish the most. I knew Daniel’s and I relationship wouldn’t really change once getting married but we wanted to celebrate us with our favourite people in a place that is special to us.

I really tried to take it all in but I have to say it went too quickly and I wish I could do it a thousand times over! But ending the night on the dancefloor was a highlight for sure.

What would be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?

Stay true to you and create a day you will love and truly enjoy. The moments you feel overwhelmed know it will all be worth it!
