10 Reasons Why Winter Is the Best Time to Get Married in Byron Bay

Apart from a marginal drop in temperature, there’s every reason to hold a winter wedding in Byron Bay. In fact winter in Byron boasts warm picture perfect days with the least rainfall, and for a number of reasons we actually think winter is one of the most ideal times to wed. Here’s why…

1. Warm Picture Perfect Days and the Least Chance of Rain!
We’re blessed with a subtropical climate so winter boasts beautiful warm days with the temperature not dropping until the evenings. You can expect the average daily temperatures this time of year to sit around the low to mid 20s, and you’re lucky if you see a cloud in the sky! Rain; it’s something everyone dreads will happen on their wedding day. So not only are we blessed with beautiful warm temps, July and August experience some of the year’s lowest rainfall.

2. Your Chosen Venue Will Have More Availability
Firstly, venue hire; it’s almost heartbreaking to finally decide on the perfect wedding venue to then be told none of your preferred dates can actually be accommodated. Venues can be booked up to a year or more in advance in the peak months, so an off-peak wedding definitely gives you more leeway with dates…and price! (Now we’ve got your attention). Off peak weddings are generally more affordable.

3. It Will Be Easier to Lock in Your Desired Wedding Vendors
You’ll find booking your dream wedding suppliers on your chosen date is going to be far easier in the winter months as this is generally their quiet time too. You may even find some suppliers are willing to compromise on price to secure some winter business.

4. Accommodation is Plentiful
Byron is a happening place all year round but during the spring and summer months, accommodation options are far more limited and prices are generally higher as there’s more demand. You’ll find accommodation in winter is plentiful and there’s normally lots of specials to take advantage of.

5. It’s the Ideal Temperature for Men Wearing Suits
If you’re after a formal affair and suits are part of your dress code, wearing a suit when temperatures are hitting close to 30 degrees or above is never comfortable for the bridal party or your guests! The mild winter temperatures make it cool enough to wear a suit and rock it all the way into the evening.

6. Avoid Makeup Meltdowns
The high humidity and temperatures in the warmer months can often cause a makeup meltdown! This is never pretty…. A cooler winter day will leave your face looking fresh and flawless all day long!

7. Your Guests Will More Likely Be Available
Of course you want everyone on your guest list to be able to make your special day. Booking in the wedding peak periods can mean you’re running the risk of some of your guests already having another wedding to attend or even a spring/summer holiday already booked.

8. It’s Still Warm Enough to Swim at the Beach
Byron is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. This is obviously one of the draw cards that brings people from all over to see. If you think it’s too cold to go swimming here in winter, then think again. Water temperatures average around 22 degrees over the winter (it actually drops in the spring), so it’s still perfect bikini weather and ideal for those romantic long walks along the beach. This time of year you’ll also find beaches are not as crowded, therefore finding a car park, or your own little private romantic spot is not going to be a drama.

9. It’s the Perfect Time in Europe to Jet Off After Your Wedding for a Honeymoon
If your heart is set on jet setting straight off on your honeymoon post the wedding, then Winter (our time) is when Europe’s summer is flourishing and most of Asia has the lowest rainfall! It’s the perfect time to get away for your post wedding romantic escape!

10. It’s the Best Time of Year for Capturing Those Golden Sunset Wedding Photos
About the time you’re off getting your gorgeous ‘just married’ shots is likely to be about the time the sun will be setting in the afternoon. Perfect timing for those magical golden light moments!
