Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?
Riley popped the question on the beach in Barbados while we were enjoying a much-needed family holiday following the reopening of international borders after the COVID restrictions.

What were the reasons for choosing The Fig Tree as the venue for your special day?
The moment we laid eyes on Fig Tree Restaurant, we knew it was the perfect venue for us. We were instantly captivated by its unique atmosphere and charm. The various sections of the venue seamlessly came together, enhancing the flow of our special day. Che warmly welcomed us, giving us a tour of the space. With champagne in hand, we felt reassured that we were in capable hands for our wedding planning. The breathtaking setting left us in awe – the impeccably manicured gardens and the stunning view made it easy choice to make.

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
I aimed for a classic, timeless, and romantic aesthetic. I opted for a white and green colour palette with my florals and added a touch of gold for the reception, my vision was to keep it simple, modern and elegant.

Were there any wedding vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
I loved every vendor and couldn’t have chosen a more perfect team to bring my dream day into reality. A standout experience was working with Missy Bridal, who expertly handled my hair. She was incredibly supportive, always making me feel comfortable and was happy for me to reach out about any wedding-related questions. On the morning of my wedding, she felt like just another friend, adding to the relaxed atmosphere while I was getting ready.
Additionally, my experience with Florals And Co was exceptional. Sarah was so great and professional putting me at ease in the lead-up to my special day. We had a virtual meeting where she patiently accommodated my last-minute changes, making the entire process stress-free.

Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?
The most important part of my wedding day was definitely the ceremony. It was such a magical moment and I wanted it to be perfect. We were so lucky with the weather and just seeing Riley at the end of the aisle for the first time in that gorgeous setting with all our favourite people was by far the biggest highlight.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?
The highlight of my planning experience was having regular discussions with Maddie. I enjoyed working on the planning document as I am highly organised and a perfectionist so it was great to see every detail noted in one document. As the wedding day approached, reading through the compiled notes made me feel incredibly relaxed. It helped me visualise the day and understand the logistics, giving me confidence in how smoothly everything would unfold.

What would be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. I found myself overthinking details like cushion colours and menu fonts on several occasions. However, when the day arrives, you hardly even notice these minor aspects. It truly is the most special day of your life, so enjoy every moment because it passes by in the blink of an eye!
