Jodie & Chad’s wedding day was something a little different to what they had originally planned. Their wedding venue, Fig Tree Restaurant, burnt down at 3am the day of their wedding! However, that obstacle didn’t change what our incredible team is amazing at doing, and that’s creating dream wedding days no matter the circumstances! Jodie & Chad were just so happy to celebrate their love and it didn’t matter where it happened! A HUGE thank you to our incredible team of suppliers for bringing this one together at the very last minute, we couldn’t have done it without each one of you! We loved celebrating Jodie & Chad’s love and seeing them have the best day of their lives. This is one wedding we won’t ever forget!
Tell us your story, how did you both meet?
Chad and I met at a tapas bar and instantly hit it off – it was like we had known it each other forever. We sat and talked until closing time!
How did the proposal happen?
We were in Bali taking a walk along Seminyak Beach just me and him. Having some quiet time while the kids (Vienna & Jake) were being babysat! Chad got on one knee and proposed while the sun was setting.
What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
My style was romantic – I wanted a soft pallet and quite a simple vibe. Our florist, Sarah from Florals & Co, did an amazing job with our flowers plus the styling pieces from The Wedding Shed brought it all together.
Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with?
All our suppliers were absolutely awesome. Having the venue burn down the morning of your wedding day definitely threw a spanner in the works and I feel the whole team of suppliers came together and made our day even more special, especially the crew at The Fig Tree and Byron Bay Weddings. I’ll always be forever grateful for how much they did on our day, making sure we had the best day. It was quite humbling to see a team/crew/family pull together and make our day magical.
It’s quite hard just picking two suppliers but I’d say Dani from Danielle Webster Photography did a wonderful job and was a dream to work with. Our photos came out better than I could have imagined! Our celebrant, Andrew Michael, was pretty rad too. We had a lot of positive feedback about Andy at our ceremony. He has a way of making you feel relaxed and engaged well with all guests.
Overall, what was your most favourite part of your wedding day and why?
The food was AMAZING, the location was beyond beautiful but seeing Chad while I was walking down the aisle was probably my most memorable part. It was as if everything just stopped. I had the wobbling crying chin going on, it was a massive relief seeing him. All the worries and stress from the day just disappeared. Having our children part of the wedding was so special too. Jake our 4-year-old son did an impromptu speech at the end of the speeches – it was very cute and beautiful. In my son’s words “we’re all the Bussell’s now”.
