Real Wedding // Andrea & Nathan’s Victoria’s Wedding

Andrea & Nathan’s love story began 9 years ago as high school sweethearts! Tying the knot at the beautiful Victoria’s at Ewingsdale, their day was everything they could have imagined and more. From the moment they locked eyes that day, they knew it would be the best day of their lives! We loved working with an amazing team of suppliers to make sure their day was absolutely perfect. Check out their gorgeous small intimate wedding below.

Tell us your love story, how did you both meet?
We met and dated in high school, but really came together after we’d both graduated. We’d been together almost 9 years by the time we finally said ‘I do’!

How did the proposal happen?
Despite me being on high-alert (we’d visited Adam Graham together to pick a ring), Nathan ended up taking me completely by surprise during a long weekend away with friends at Stradbroke Island. He’d suggested a sunrise walk along the rocks and very smoothly popped the question while we were taking a selfie. It was so much fun to be with friends and be able to share the excitement straight away.

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe you wanted to create?
We both have quite a classic taste so wanted to keep our styling fairly simple and avoid anything super on-trend. We’d chosen Fig Tree Restaurant as our venue so had planned and booked all our styling components with that space in mind. When news broke of the fire at Fig Tree, I’ll admit we were nervous about a venue change but we could not have been happier with the look and feel of our day at Victoria’s at Ewingsdale!

Victoria’s is such a stunning venue and, like Fig Tree, has that mix of country and coastal charm that meant our styling translated perfectly. It honestly felt like our day was meant to take place there all along.

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
Our entire vendor team were incredible and if there’s one piece of advice we’d give to other couples it’s this; invest in the people you want to work with. Your vendors really do contribute so much to the energy and atmosphere of your day, so it’s worth every dollar to be surrounded by the team that feels right for you.

Jase and Matt from Lucas & Co, along with Eddie from Ripple Weddings, were definite standouts for us. The guys just worked in with us and the day as it unfolded and nothing felt staged or awkward. Every time I looked at one of them they had a huge smile on their face and just seemed genuinely so happy to be spending the day with us. It was exactly the type of fun, relaxed energy we wanted to be surrounded by.

Our celebrant, Sam Capewell, was an absolute legend every step of the way and we can’t recommend him enough. From our very first email correspondence with Sam, we knew that he was the guy for us. He has a killer sense of humour and is just the most lovely, down to earth person. Not only was our ceremony great, but thanks to him our family photos ran like clockwork and Nathan and I weren’t without a drink in hand the entire time.

And finally, the teams from Fig Tree, Victoria’s and Byron Bay Weddings. The way that these teams worked together to make sure we had the day we’d hoped for was just amazing.

Honestly, we could write entire paragraphs about anyone we worked with…

Overall, what was your favourite part of your wedding day and why?
The walk down the aisle was a really special moment in the day for us both. I’d had such a fun, relaxing morning with the girls that by the time our ceremony arrived, I just couldn’t wait to see Nathan and all our friends and family. I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited. Nathan was much more emotional than I think either of us expected, which he says was the combination of seeing me in my dress and veil mixed with the (incredible) acoustic cover that Honey & Stone played when I walked in.

I don’t think it matters how big or small a wedding you plan, it takes a lot of time and effort to bring it all together and you look forward to it for so long. That moment of locking eyes on each other at the opposite end of the aisle and realising that it’s all finally happening is a moment you never forget.
