Meeting exactly 10 years prior to the day, Maxine & Ash were married at beautiful Byron View Farm in the dreamiest setting, overlooking the ocean and rolling hills of the hinterland. Opting for a soft, romantic feel throughout, Maxine & Ash chose a timeless neutral palette incorporating blush, warm whites and hints of oak. Dining intimately outdoors under a stunning ceiling of fairy lights was an incredible highlight of the day, showing us exactly what it’s all about — celebrating love with your nearest and dearest. Read on to relive this magical day.
Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?
We met 10 years ago on the date of our new wedding day. We knew of each other but never officially hung out. After bumping into each other on a Wednesday night out, we exchanged numbers but didn’t contact each other after. Then, we both happened to be at the same night club for birthdays without each other knowing. I was fairly drunk and tripped UP the stairs to which Ash caught me coming down the stairs and from that point we were pretty inseparable.
What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
We were looking for a romantic feel with soft florals and lighter pinks / natural tones. With the venue we chose, we didn’t want to overpower the incredible view for the ceremony so rather than choosing height in the floral arrangement we decided on a soft floor arrangement.
Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
We absolutely loved working with Bower Botanicals, Sweet Obsession Cakes and the team from Byron Bay Weddings. Bower Botanicals were very knowledgeable and eased the process when first deciding on the florals. Once we needed to postpone they were very accomodating and were able to bring our dream to life. Again, with Sweet Obsession Cakes, after having to postpone we felt at ease knowing Katie understood and was very easy to deal with. The tastings were absolutely amazing with having a wide variety of cakes to taste from. Lastly, Byron Bay Weddings, having the one planner with you the whole way absolutely amazing. The support on decision making and offering of suggestions was exactly what we needed, Maddie was so lovely and so easy to work with. We absolutely loved our Day Coordinator and team. Everything was seamless and we couldn’t fault the day.
Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?
We wanted all our guests to feel relaxed and enjoy absolutely every moment of the day. Having booked Byron View Farm we wanted all areas of the property to be used to create a really good experience and for all guests to enjoy the 360 views of the hinterland and Byron Bay. We loved our guest’s reactions when they arrived on the bus as we kept the venue a surprise, the entire day all guests were in love with the surroundings. The dining experience under the stars was another standout, having everyone dine outside in an intimate way was special to see as we were seated separate from everyone else. That was our moment to take everything in.
What would you be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?
Trust the process and trust the planners. Everything is out of our control so if anything was to happen you know you have the support of Byron Bay Weddings that will pretty much do anything for you to ensure you have the perfect day.
