The Fig Tree Revealed

Over the past month, Fig Tree Restaurant has undergone some pretty spectacular renovations to enhance, even more so, it’s beautiful aesthetic and effortless luxe feel. If you’re unfamiliar with this venue, you can find it nestled amongst the hinterland in the secluded and quiet area of Ewingsdale… just a 5 minute drive to the eclectic town of Byron Bay.

Existing as an endearing converted farmhouse, Fig Tree has definitely seen some enhancements in its time. Less than two years ago the outside was repainted a soft grey and the interiors fresh white; creating the most beautiful blank canvas to dine in with floor to ceiling windows exposing phenomenal panoramic views out to the iconic lighthouse and ocean beyond. The authentic farmhouse charm surely remains, between its original kitchen filling the restaurant with delicious aromas from ingredients sourced from their own gardens… and the majestic presence of the old fig tree that has become one Byron Bay’s most sought after ceremony locations.

The newest renovations complement what was already there, with most of them focusing on enhancing the outdoor spaces. Neutral palettes, clean lines and a mix of textures are seamlessly carried throughout and dramatically improve the aesthetic to Fig Tree’s poolside area, where delicious cocktails and canapés are served to enjoy.

An extra wet weather option has been created, with a new oak pergola positioned over the gravel area where the first dance often takes place. The beautiful natural grapevine sits upon the pergola, creating the perfect atmosphere at dusk, especially when fairy-lights are involved…

Mediterranean vibes carry across to the newly introduced olive grove and lemon trees located on the lower level of the gravel underneath the fig tree itself. Three 40-year old olive trees and 25 five year-old olive trees have been planted, offering a stunning hideaway for bridal photos or a romantic stroll through the gardens.

The interior of the restaurant has had some new additions too. New internal lighting pendants in the foyer areas of the restaurant along with custom-made cabinets and benches complementing the overall aesthetic.

Without a doubt, the new enhancements at Fig Tree Restaurant have ignited a more sophisticated and relaxed mood, whilst retaining the iconic beauty and heritage that the venue is known for.

(…we have a beautiful new outdoor bar coming soon too. Please keep an eye out for it across our social media!)
