Stephanie & Sebastian’s wedding at The Earth House evoked the most magical feel. Witness how the talented crew behind Rabbit and the Bear beautifully captured the essence from start to finish, romanticising us with hues of pink blooms against pastel skies and deep green rolling hills. Read their love story below.
Tell us your story, how did you both meet?
Seb and I first met at College in Brisbane on the day that I moved in. My friend (and bridesmaid), Connie, and I were moving our boxes up to our new apartment when Seb offered to carry them in for us. It turned out that he was my neighbour and our bedrooms shared the same wall. After running into each other at a few gatherings around college, we realised there was something more there!
What were the reasons for choosing The Earth House as the venue for your special day?
We attended the Byron Bay Wedding Fair at the start of 2017, and made a last minute decision to scope out The Earth House. It was the first venue we went to on the day, and as soon as we pulled up to the venue we knew it was the one. The Earth House was truly our dream venue – it had it all. It had the perfect ceremony spot overlooking the hinterland, and thankfully a great wet weather plan which we had to enact. The reception spot was already beautiful as it was, which meant we could do as little or as much as we wanted with the space. Munro, the venue owner, was also so wonderful to work with. He was always happy to help answer any questions we had.
What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
I wanted to create a fresh, green feel for the reception, but we really just chose florals (by The French Petal) and details that we liked and hoped that it all worked together. Which thankfully it did! There was a hint of pink throughout the whole day, with my heels, nails, bouquets and hanging installations all varying shades of pink. This was not intentional at all, but it looked beautiful in the end!
Were there any wedding suppliers that you particularly loved working with and why?
All of our suppliers were wonderful and I wouldn’t have changed the way the day turned out at all… but meeting and spending the day with our videographers/ photographers Jordyn and Andy from Rabbit and the Bear, and their third shooter Jess, was truly magic. Seb and I are not naturals in front of the camera, but they immediately made us feel comfortable, like we were just hanging out with friends that we’d known forever. They sensed any stress that we were feeling and put us at ease straight away by making us laugh or reminding us what the day was all about. On top of that, their work is amazing; I still cry every time I watch our video.
I also loved working with Emily from Secret Weapon Cakes. She was so flexible when I kept changing my mind, and so many people commented on how delicious our cake was. Claire from Lark Music was also wonderfully patient, and on the evening she not only performed beautifully, but interacted wonderfully with our guests… especially our little nieces and nephews.
What were your favourite parts of the planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?
Byron Bay Weddings was great at keeping me on track throughout the planning process, and were always very flexible and patient when I was constantly changing my mind. On the wedding day, Lloyd and Carmen were so attentive, and this made us feel at ease throughout the whole day. We especially appreciated them putting into play the wet weather plan seamlessly when a thunderstorm rolled in, and bringing us food out in the paddocks when we were taking photos.
Overall, what was your most favourite part of your wedding day and why?
The ceremony was definitely our favourite part of the wedding day. Seeing each other for the first time that day was really emotional, but in the best possible way. We loved hearing each others vows and discovering the words we’d spend our lives striving to achieve.
