Real Wedding // Prue & Luke’s Earth House Wedding

From highschool fling to the real thing, Prue & Luke are the ultimate love story. Finding happiness within each other after years of friendship, it was such a pleasure to be a part of their big adventure. Prue & Luke threw caution to the wind and gave their stylists creative freedom to play with texture and shape at their stunning Moroccan inspired Earth House Wedding, which was framed by magical views of the Northern Rivers Hinterland. Prue says, ‘we wouldn’t have changed a thing… having our family and friends there celebrating us and our love for each other was all that mattered’.

Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?
Luke and I actually went to school together. We did date our first year of high school, but like all high school relationships, it lasted about a month. We remained really good friends during and after we finished high school. It wasn’t until a few years later that we eventually found our way back to each other.

It took Luke 10 years to propose, but I wouldn’t change a thing as we have been on so many adventures together. My favourite adventure was when he did propose as it was in one of my favourite places, Wine Glass Bay in Tasmania.

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
For us, this was definitely our favourite part. We love the texture and different floral arrangements. Being a creative person myself, I know stylists work best with limited guidelines, and we were absolutely blown away with what Wilderness Flowers created. I think it was better not knowing the finer details of what they were creating and trusting that what they would do would be perfect. We went for more of a textural table setting, and we wanted minimal waste, so we chose to hire the hanging potted plants for the reception ceiling decorations. We wanted to create a relaxed, casual vibe.

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
For Luke and I every single vendor we used was absolutely amazing. We still have guests talking about the amazing food and how incredible the venue is. Big shout out to Nina Claire Photography, she was so professional during the lead-up and also on the day. She made Luke, and I feel so at ease and not to mention her work is absolutely perfect.

Just Jess ceremonies is an absolute legend, and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough. She had Luke and I plus all of our guests laughing the whole way through our ceremony. Jess made Luke, and I feel so comfortable like we were the only ones in the room. Not only was Jess amazing on the day but all of the work she put into the lead-up and also after our wedding day was incredible.

Lastly, of course, Wilderness Flowers! You only have to look at our photos to see how amazing Mikarla and her team are.

You got married during a global pandemic, how did you find the experience?
Luke and I are not stressful people but planning a wedding during a pandemic is next level. To be completely honest at the beginning, we weren’t very accepting of the rules and regulations we had to follow as this is not what we had planned or envisioned for our wedding day. It took our beautiful friends and family to keep reassuring us that everything would be perfect no matter what. I don’t think we truly believed it would be perfect until the day after the wedding when it was perfect. Byron Bay Weddings were truly amazing throughout the whole journey and made sure Luke and I were comfortable and at ease, with every decision we had to make. It’s hard to change your mindset, but once you refocus and remember the reasons why you are getting married, all of the rules of COVID do fade into the background.

What reassurance would you give to other couples in the same situation that are hesitant or have concerns about their upcoming wedding?
Be flexible. The rules are changing every few weeks, and you cannot predict what is going to happen. Ride every wave as it comes and be open to new ideas. Remember the things that are most important to you both. We wouldn’t have changed a thing with our wedding, being able to have our family and friends there celebrating us and our love for each other was all that mattered to us so, don’t let COVID rule your day, adjust things as you need but remember this is about you.
