Laura & Jack’s romantic and elegant Fig Tree wedding day could not have been any more perfect for them! When their plans to tie the knot in Europe were cancelled, they knew Byron Bay was meant to be. They booked a venue they had never seen before and in Laura’s words, ‘It couldn’t have been more perfect. Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?
We met 10 years whilst both studying at the same University. We started dating shortly after and the rest is history! We have since travelled the world together and moved our lives to Australia.
Jack proposed at sunset on a remote island in the Maldives, the setting couldn’t have been more perfect.
What were the reasons for choosing Fig Tree as the venue for your special day?
It was a tricky one for us. We’d originally planned to get married in Europe, surrounded by our loved ones but due to COVID, we had to make other arrangements. We’d only been to Byron Bay once and had fallen in love with the landscape and the scenery; it very much reminded us of home.
We actually booked the Fig Tree before we got to see it, but it couldn’t have been more perfect. The ceremony spot under the tree has such a special and intimate feeling, and the views out to the ocean, lighthouse and landscape are breathtaking.
What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
Fig Tree itself is a naturally stunning venue so we wanted to keep it simple and minimalistic, yet fresh, organic and contemporary. We kept it quite neutral with white tones and pastel accents.
Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
We honestly loved every single one of our vendors.
Andrew Michael, our celebrant, made us feel at ease from the first day of speaking with him, right through to the ceremony and gave invaluable advice along the way.
Our photographer, Amelia Fullarton, and Videographer, Jarod Lucas captured our day beautifully, and we are delighted with the images/videos. They both gave great directions and fit in seamlessly with the day.
Danielle Guest, our musician and DJ were phenomenal; her music was just beautiful, and she got the crowd going on the dancefloor!
What were your favourite parts of the wedding planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?
We loved how easy our planner, Sihanie, made the entire process. We were planning our wedding at the last minute and time was against us, but Sihanie kept us relaxed and on track along the way and made it feel ‘easy’. Nothing was too much for Sihanie!
Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?
We wanted everyone to feel relaxed and comfortable, and most importantly to have fun. We were pretty worried about the wet weather leading up to the wedding, but our wedding coordinator at the Fig Tree, Jimmy, made sure the whole day ran smoothly and that everybody was looked after.
What would be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff; it really will be the best day of your life. Put trust in your planners, venue and vendors, they have years of experience and really do know what they are talking about. We couldn’t have pulled everything together without them.
