Georgia & Daniel were married recently at the ever so stunning Fig Tree Restaurant. They decided on a simple, natural and chic vibe to celebrate their love with their favourite people. It was such a pleasure to create a relaxing and beautiful wedding day for Georgia & Daniel alongside an amazing team of suppliers. Read on to hear just how special their love story is.
Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?
We met nine years ago while working together at the Sydney Yacht Club. After about two years of working together, the sails aligned and we started dating. A few dates in, Daniel put a cinnamon doughnut on my ring finger and told me he loved me.
Daniel proposed in front of my family at Palm Cove near my hometown of Cairns; it was so special to share that moment with my loved ones. We’re still on a high from our amazing wedding and can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.

What were the reasons for choosing Fig Tree Restaurant as the venue for your special day?
We fell in love with the 150-year-old fig tree itself. The ceremony spot under the tree has such a special feeling and we instantly knew that was where we wanted to tie the knot.

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
Simple, natural and chic. We’re not an over-the-top couple so we wanted to keep things minimal and let the stunning venue shine. Our favourite styling piece was the ornate glass chandelier with green foliage hanging from the ceiling of the restaurant.

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
Our photographer Nina Claire was amazing. She gave us great direction and fit in seamlessly with the day. We absolutely love our photos.
My hairstylist, Anita Bauer and makeup artist, Marley Hammond were dreams to work with and made myself and my bridal party feel amazing.

What were your favourite parts of the wedding planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?
We loved how easy our planner, Maddie, made the experience. She had an answer for everything and filled us with confidence through what was an incredibly chaotic year. She also had great recommendations for styling and vendors. Our favourite part would be the day we visited Fig Tree whilst the restaurant was getting rebuilt and the owner, Che, gave us a private tour through the construction site. He told us his family and the venue’s history and about his big plans for the rebuild, that was a really great day and when it all started to feel real.

Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?
We wanted everyone to feel relaxed and comfortable. The whole day ran so smoothly. Our guests kept saying how easy everything flowed and how attentive the staff were. Our Day Coordinator even made sure we got time to ourselves to soak it all in.

What would be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?
Be true to who you are as a couple and don’t sweat the small stuff. Remember that you’re doing it for love!
