Jess & Nathan’s byronviewfarm wedding was bright, luxuriously boheme and all kinds of beautiful. Estelle from The French Petal turned it on with poppies and roses in vibrant sunset hues, complementing the couples infectious happy vibes and byronviewfarm’s golden hour, kissing the hinterland. Read Jess & Nathan’s love story below and witness how Shane Shepherd captured every special moment.
Tell us your story, how did you both meet?
The schoolies fling that just stuck! After my girlfriend flashed the car he and his friends were passing by in, a drink (or two…) and a game of truth or dare later, the rest is history really.
How did the proposal happen?
It was our first overseas trip together, in London. I was later informed that his master plan was to do it in the park at sunset during our walk home from dinner and a theatre show, but when we arrived the park gates were locked. He ended up doing it in the hotel room and it was super lovely…minus my cranky pants because he wouldn’t let me stop for dessert somewhere haha, but the alternative was way better of course!
What were the reasons for choosing byronviewfarm as the venue for your special day?
If you’ve been you know why…and honestly it just fit us to a tee. We had been looking at venues all day around Byron and byronviewfarm was an added bonus we had not even considered. As soon as we arrived we knew it was fate. Those hills seriously sing!
What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
Bright, boheme, fun and free! I am absolutely nuts for florals, so I always intended for them to be the hero of the day – Estelle our florist from The French Petal did the most incredible job and we will never forget dining under that insanely amazing floral chandelier.
Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
Our absolute legend of a celebrant, Ben Carlyle, was a huge stand out for the day. Bringing the most relaxed, fun and infectious vibes, all of our guests kept commenting on what an authentic and unreal ceremony it was…and although we had only met a few months prior, he instantly felt like a long time friend.
Then of course our out of this world, super star of a photographer Shane Shepherd! For a couple of super awkward humans he sure knew how to put us at ease and had us in stitches all day. Just like having another great mate alongside us, with the cherry on top of the most spectacular photos we could have ever hoped for.
Honestly though, we were absolutely blessed with our wedding A-team of vendors; Estelle from The French Petal, Keifa & Jake from Insta Kombi, the Byron Bay Magic Bus and Che in the kitchen cooking up a steak to end all steaks. We couldn’t imagine one aspect of the day without them all.

What were your favourite parts of the planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?
Nicole was so incredibly helpful and supportive all the way through the process. We live in super remote WA so were also planning from afar but having Byron Bay Weddings made it completely stress free and honestly so much fun. The girls from The Wedding Shed were angels as well and did such a great job at bringing our vision to life. It was also super awesome having an excuse to continually visit Byron!
Overall, what was your most favourite part of your wedding day and why?
Just enjoying one epic party with all of our closest family and friends. If you ask me, celebrating love (especially the love of your life) is just the most infectious and euphoric thing. We have honestly never felt so high on life!
