Real Wedding // Claire & Jack’s Forget Me Not Wedding

Claire & Jack’s tropical lush wedding day at Forget Me Not was everything they had ever dreamed of! Seeing all of their guests’ smiling faces brought them so much joy and we couldn’t be happier for them! We loved bringing their dreams to life and working with a team of amazing suppliers to make it happen!

Tell us your love story, how did you both meet?
Jack and I met in 2011 at his brother’s birthday party in our hometown of Newcastle. Jack had only just returned home from an overseas trip and I attended the party with a few of my girlfriends. We instantly noticed each other and were together all night. Jack and I lived in the same town for our childhoods but never crossed paths until then!

How did the proposal happen?
Many years ago, my dream was to travel to America and see the Empire State Building. In 2016, Jack and I travelled to America; our first stop was New York! I was in total awe of this magical city. Jack’s younger brother, Tom, was also in New York and we had met up with him and stayed together for a few nights. On the first night, Jack surprised me with a trip up to the very top of the Empire State Building! Jack had organised Tom to attend as well and unbeknown to me, Tom was carrying the ring…
On the 102nd floor of the Empire State Building, Jack took my hand and asked me to marry him. I was speechless! All of my dreams had come true.

What were the reasons for choosing Forget Me Not in Byron Bay as the venue for your special day?
We searched around almost all of Byron Bay’s wedding venues for about 2 years before deciding on Forget Me Not. We knew as soon as we were at the property and had met the owner, Jo, that this venue was for us! It was just what we had dreamed of and allowed us to create whatever it was we wanted. Every one of our guests commented on how beautiful the property was and it really was our perfect spot.
We will make sure we go back for our anniversary and stay in the new cottages that have been built!

What style were you striving for with florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
I loved a coastal/tropical look. Everything was based on a green and white colour pallet. From lush green tropical foliage, bouquets and palm trees to crisp white furniture. We also had a clear marquee from Byron Bay Wedding Party & Hire which really enhanced the property’s gorgeous vast areas of greenery.

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
We loved working with every one of them! We cannot thank Byron Bay Weddings enough. From the many phone calls to organising everything for me to being the best behind the scenes coordinators we needed on the day. Every staff member was amazing and we wouldn’t have been able to have the wedding of our dreams without them.

Our celebrant, Andrew Michael was incredible.

Estelle from The French Petal was perfection.

And! My photographer which we decided to bring in from Newcastle, Muse Photography was amazing. Teresa was a magician with it came to capturing our perfect moments.

What were your favourite parts of the planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?
Our favourite parts were working with Aoife, Katie and the entire Byron Bay Weddings team. They were so helpful, gave us so many ideas and thought of all the little details we wouldn’t have even thought of. We loved the catchup phone calls, going through inspiration pictures and designing our dream wedding.

Overall, what was your most favourite party of your wedding day and why?
The entire wedding day was a fairytale. I especially loved arriving at the venue just before the ceremony and waiting where I couldn’t be seen until I was ready to walk down the aisle. Our Day Coordinator, Lloyd was was perfect at helping me prepare to walk down the aisle as well as keeping me hidden. I loved watching all of the guests waiting for us to arrive and seeing everyone smiling with such joy once the bridesmaids appeared.
