Real Wedding // Brittney & Jarrod’s Forget Me Not Wedding

Brittney & Jarrod’s Forget Me Not wedding took us on a wildly romantic wedding set deep in Byron’s hinterland. Effortlessly from ceremony to reception, a theme of fresh white and metallic gold boldly pop out against this venue’s vibrant green wonderland. Read their love story below.

Tell us your story, how did you both meet?
Jarrod and I met in back in 2009 at high school in Goulburn. I guess you could call us high school sweethearts. He was 2 years above me and not
long after we met he moved to Canberra to focus on football. After I finished school I made the move over to the nations capital – now where we call home.

How did the proposal happen?
Even though we had been together for a long time at this point, to get engaged wasn’t burning on my mind so when it happened it was a complete surprise. Jarrod was super sweet and romantic, proposing to me under the lights of the Gardens By The Bay in Singapore.

It was on the last night of our holiday we braved the pouring rain and walked through the gardens. After numerous failed attempts, Jarrod dropped to his knee, spoke words from the heart and proposed with the most amazing ring. We stood and kissed in the rain for another hour without a worry in the world – an absolute dream!

What were the reasons for choosing Forget Me Not as the venue for your special day?
We fell in love with Forget Me Not before we had even done a site inspection. As soon as we arrived home from our holiday the planning started and Forget Me Not stood out so we couldn’t steer our minds. Jarrod and I are both from a small country town and desired to have a destination wedding. Forget Me Not made us feel right at home. As well, our guests and ourselves were made to have a holiday which is exactly what we wanted.

From the emaculate well-kept garden beds, the picturesque pond, the availability of having the ceremony and reception at the one venue and off course the space! We had 180 guests so trying to find a venue that can allow for a formal sit-down reception was also harder than we thought but Forget Me Not ticked all the boxes. Jo the owner of the venue was an absolute dream and pleasure to work with – nothing was too hard and everything we asked for was never a problem. We cannot wait to go back to celebrate our 1 year anniversary!!

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
I was definitely aiming for a modern chic style ceremony and reception. Clean fresh whites, with a touch of gold. I wanted to create something elegant and beautiful, minimalistic but memorable. Emily and Laura, my wedding planners made my dream a reality, putting all of our ideas together and bringing it to life. They helped make it even more elegant then I could have ever imagined!

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
I can honestly say not one bad thing about any of our vendors. I felt like everyone was prepared to go above and beyond to make our day unforgettable. And it was!

Our celebrant Ben Carlyle was an absolute dream to work with, we have even made a friendship with him outside the marriage build up. He made Jarrod and I feel so comfortable; he was honest, he was kind and he was so understanding. We have had numerous comments from guests praising his ceremony style.

Both our photographer, Bushturkey Studio and videographer, Matt Barwick Films, listened and acted on everything we asked for. The direction that they gave to us on the day made us feel super comfortable, relaxed and really you would have barely known they were there. So subtle and nothing was forced. It all came so naturally and we could not be more happy with their work!

Friday the 13th would not have been possible without the continuous help, support and guidance from Byron Bay Weddings. From the moment I got in touch with Emily from Byron Bay Weddings to our wedding day I always felt at ease, on top and ahead of schedule. The professionalism that BBW showed especially on our wedding day just shows that they are willing and prepared to go above and beyond for their brides and grooms. Rain forecasted and not a stress or worry in the world from their end. Our day went off without a hitch (no rain – thank god) and I truly believe it was all down to BBW. From setup to pack down, the friendly, professional and efficient staff, the delicious pizza and pasta cooked by Fig Tree Catering, styling guides, helpful timelines and the continuous contact by the team. They are there for you every step of the way.

Emily’s eye for style along with my friend Laura from Sweet Little Sunday brought my dream to life. Emily and the team at BBW were my rocks and made stressful old me not
stressed and confident that our day was going to be great and it just was!

Overall, what was your most favourite part of your wedding day and why?
My favourite part of my wedding day was feeling all the feels, all the nerves and walking down the aisle to my soon to be husband! With the chaos of a wedding I really wanted to focus and remember why this was all happening. Seeing Jarrods teary face at the bottom of the aisle made all of the pre-wedding nerves disappear. I was marrying the man of my dreams, in a dream location, surrounded by 180 of our loved ones, with the sun shining about to create memories for a lifetime!

Friday the 13th is certainly not a bad omen for us!
