Svetlana & Guy celebrated their magical wedding day at The Earth House in Byron Bay’s hinterland on a gorgeous spring day. Resonating with their vision of an intimate, relaxed, and naturally beautiful celebration, the moment Svetlana and Guy laid eyes on The Earth House, they felt an instant connection — as if the venue had been designed just for them. As friends and family gathered on their special day, the lush landscape of the hinterland offered the most stunning backdrop for Svetlana and Guy’s heartfelt vows and cherished moments. For styling, a palette of green and white was featured throughout, with a hint of pink in the floral arrangements, perfectly capturing the essence of their love and creating an elegant and romantic ambience that embraced all who were present. Read on to relive this stunning day!
Tell us about your story, how did you meet and where did the proposal happen?
Haha, we actually matched on Bumble! Back when it was a newly introduced app for actually DATING, being not like Tinder. Guy lived on the Gold Coast and I lived in Brisbane at the time so it actually took us a few weeks to actually arrange a date and meet up for the first time.
Guy had organised a low-key date at Miami Marketta in Miami on the Gold Coast. I turned up at his house and the moment he opened that door… It was so strange… I knew from that moment he was the ONE! I know that sounds strange, as for years Mum told me you just know and I didnt believe her and, to be honest, with all my failed attempts at meeting guys that hope was gone until I met Guy.
I told Guy I am a dreamer (haha, pure Pisces here) and I love being romantic (well the idea of it) and hoped for it… Guy isn’t! I always told him how a picnic would be amazing, just amazing. It never happened. We did do a little bit of travelling and did plenty of weekend-away trips that I guess were romantic. We spent a lot of time travelling and staying in Byron. We felt we were there every weekend.
Then I was about 13 weeks pregnant with our daughter and we spent 2 nights away in Byron. Guy had told me he planned a nice day for us, but it was a surprise. Me thinking okay maybe it’s lunch at Rae’s at Wategos as I’ve never been.
To my surprise, he had organised the most ROMANTIC picnic at Wategos Beach. He went all out. It was incredible. Straight away I knew what was happening… Within minutes I was like just ask me hahaha and of course I said YES!

What were the reasons for choosing The Earth House as the venue for your special day?
We always talked about having a weekend wedding outside in the Byron Bay Hinterland. When we viewed Earth House virtually we knew straight away it was US! It was exactly where we had always talked about getting married.

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
Guy and I are pretty chilled, laid-back people. We don’t like over-the-top stuff or too much colour. We went with greens, whites and a touch of pink as you can see in the florals. As a favour to our guests, we actually had an illustrator that hand drew and watercoloured each guest couple and we thought that was such a nice gift for our guests.

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
After we booked The Earth House, we decided to go with The Wedding Shed for all our styling. We already had in mind what theme we wanted for our wedding and seeing what The Wedding Shed offered in terms of hiring, it was actually quite simple.
I had my best friend help me out with styling and choosing the hire items. It honestly just made the wedding organising process so much easier and hassle-free for us. We also chose Fig Tree to cater for our wedding after we had a tasting experience with them and oh my goodness; almost everyone at the wedding told us how amazing the food was!

What were your favourite parts of the wedding planning process with Byron Bay Weddings?
I think liaising with Sophie from Byron Bay Weddings up until the day of the wedding. She was so pleasant and easy to work with; not only extremely helpful but also very organised. Everything was timed and planned with ease and whatever I needed changed, it was done straight away without hassle.
The day before the wedding I met my Day Co-Ordinator for the wedding day and she assured me many times if we needed anything, she would sort it. On the day she was absolutely BRILLIANT! Everything ran so smoothly.

Tell us what were the most important aspects of your wedding day and which moments really stood out to you?
I loved getting ready back at our accommodation with my bridesmaids. It was one of my favourite moments for sure. We had such a beautiful morning. OMG! But the wedding… everything – we just want to relive it every day! It was such a magical day (that went too quickly, haha).
We loved every moment of it, to be honest. But I think the most memorable was my mum’s speech haha.

What would be your biggest advice to other couples currently planning their wedding?
Get yourself a Wedding Planner! We had such a stress-free time organising the wedding and that’s thanks to Byron Bay Weddings. Everything just ran so smoothly.
