Getting engaged and starting to think about your wedding can be one of the most exciting times in your life. For most couples they’re forced with a long wait of 12 – 18 months to tie the knot because their chosen venue is completely booked out on weekends until the following spring or autumn (Australia’s busiest time to get hitched). But why wait a year when you can tie the knot in 6 months? Not only is your chosen venue likely to be available mid-week or on a Sunday, but getting married in the off-peak wedding periods has some serious benefits.
MID-WEEK WEDDINGS ROCK
Firstly, mid-week weddings rock! Why? Because EVERYTHING is cheaper! From venue hire to suppliers, accommodation and even flights for anyone travelling interstate. You’ll also find your chosen vendors to be available and they generally have more time on their hands to pander to your needs (not like a Saturday when they’re looking after several other weddings that same day).
Don’t sweat, people will still make the effort to come regardless of the day or date you choose. You’re actually less likely to run the risk of people not being able to attend because they have another event on that day. And you’ll likely find guests will make the most of the opportunity and turn it into a holiday; because seriously, who wouldn’t want a reason to holiday in Byron?!
WINTER IS ACTUALLY THE BEST TIME TO GET HITCHED!
Secondly, consider a winter wedding. It’s true, we actually think it’s the BEST time of year to get married. Byron is blessed with a subtropical climate, therefore winter boasts beautiful, blue sky days and a lower chance of rain. Temperatures sit around the low to mid-20s during the day, making it really comfortable for men in suits and no makeup meltdowns from the heat! Accommodation is plentiful this time of year too with a lot more affordable options going around. And yes, it’s still warm enough to hit the beach! Water temperatures average around 22 degrees over the winter (it actually drops in the spring), so it’s still perfect bikini weather and ideal for those romantic long walks along the beach.
SO WHY WAIT A YEAR?
6 months allows more than enough time to plan everything you need for the perfect wedding day. We have couples who book as close to 3 months out and still experience the wedding of their dreams. Don’t get hung up on what you think a wedding day should be or include. The day is about celebrating your love with your nearest and dearest. Therefore it doesn’t matter if you get married on a Wednesday over a Saturday, or you choose a long, leisurely lunch with a gorgeous view over an evening affair. The day is about you as a couple and the options to celebrate your love are endless.
