We’re still absolutely swooning over Chris and Maddy’s stunning day at Byron View Farm! Chris and Maddy dined under the stars in the dreamiest setting of soft blush and white pastels which carried through everything from the furniture, florals, table styling, cocktails and bridesmaid dresses. Their ‘modern romance’ vibe was stunningly beautiful. We loved being able to bring Chris and Maddy’s dream day to life. Read on to relive the magic below.
Tell us your story, how did you both meet?
Chris and I actually met in High School (where I admired him from a distance) haha. It wasn’t until we had both finished school and were attending University that we officially met each other and began dating. We originally bonded over a shared love of the beach, adventure and music.
How did the proposal happen?
We had been together for 7.5 years when Chris organised a weekend away for us in the Blue Mountains. We woke up early on Sunday morning and went on a big hike to a “secret lookout” that Chris had chosen. When we got to the top of the lookout Chris offered to take a photo of me looking out over the gorgeous mountain filled view. After he had “finished taking the photo” I turned around to find him down on one knee. Safe to say I screamed, cried and jumped around on top of this lookout for about 40 minutes without anyone else in sight. It was so beautiful to be able to experience that moment, just the two of us with only the mountains watching on.
What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
We described our wedding style as ‘modern romance’. We wanted to incorporate the relaxed energy of Byron Bay with the chic elements of a more formal, traditional wedding. To achieve this, through guidance from Nicole, our planner, we used a neutral colour palette filled with blushes, nudes and soft finishes. We carried this colour palette through everything from the furniture and florals through to table styling and cocktails.
When choosing our florals it was really important to us that our ceremony space shaped us perfectly for photos. In consultation with Stories by Ash, we decided to go with the floral installation from Wilderness Flowers for this reason. I have always loved Mikarla’s style and mix of textures and this also meant these flowers could be a feature of our reception styling as well.
With our table settings, we wanted them to be simple but tie into the overall style of the day. To achieve this we used blush napkins, with pops of gold finishes in both the cutlery and flower vases and rose quartz crystal chunks. We were so happy with how it all came together and felt it looked so magical!
Were there any vendors that you loved working with and why?
Everyone we worked with was so incredible! We honestly felt like we had the “dream team”. Giving ourselves an 18-month engagement we were lucky as we got our first picks of all vendors. The people that really stood out to us we’re Stories by Ash, Cara – Modern Love Celebrant, Jimmy – Byron Bay Weddings Day Coordinator and Nicole – Byron Bay Weddings Wedding Planner. Ash was the glue that held our day together, she was so calm and kept us to our time schedule in the gentlest and most supportive way possible. Jimmy, the Day Coordinator, was so supportive the entire week of the wedding and was another grounding force on the day attending to our every need. Without these guys, our day would have been completely different!
Overall, what was your favourite part of your wedding day and why?
There were two moments that stand out to me as the best parts of our wedding day. The first was when we were standing in front of everyone and hearing Cara, our celebrant, read out the “10 things we love about each other” that Chris and I both secretly wrote. Chris’ answers were so beautiful and showed how much he really loves me for me and it meant the world to hear. The second was when we took a few minutes off to the side during our reception when everyone was dancing on the dancefloor. Just sitting back and watching everyone dancing and enjoying themselves at our wedding was the most incredible feeling. We were so filled with gratitude and it was amazing to watch the best day of your life happening right in front of you!
