Real Wedding // Josie & Cam’s Orchard Estate Wedding

Josie & Cam’s fairytale orchard wedding, beautifully appointed with bespoke styling upon the venues impressive blank canvas. They were recently wed at The Orchard Estate. Read their love story below.

Tell us your story, how did you both meet?
We met whilst attending St Andrew’s College at Sydney University, however it was after a few overseas group holidays and for us to be both living back in Sydney for the relationship to develop. It was on the idyllic island of Ibiza where the sparks started flying!

How did the proposal happen?
The proposal went down on a clear winter evening in Japan. Cam arranged a last minute booking in a traditional-style guest house perched in the hills overlooking Mount Fuji. Just as the sun was beginning to set we jumped in our private onsen (Japanese hot spring) and to my complete surprise he popped the question. I was so shocked I thought he was joking!

What were the reasons for choosing Orchard Estate as the venue for your special day?
Our original venue actually got cancelled so we visited Byron to find a replacement and that is when we discovered The Orchard Estate. They say everything happens for a reason and this could not have rung more true! The construction wasn’t even finished but as soon as we arrived we new it would be perfect. The stunning grounds and the incredible reception venue were completely the aesthetic we were looking for – we were sold and booked it on the spot!

What style were you striving for with your table settings, florals and reception? Was there a certain look or vibe that you wanted to create?
We aren’t big fans of traditional wedding styling and wanted something a little more reflective of us. SO we went for large impact foliage and a sort of ‘tribal luxe’ theme with hints of Moroccan metallics and lots of candles. This was all set on a backdrop of white (my favourite colour) and bamboo.

Were there any vendors that you particularly loved working with and why?
ALL OF THEM!!!! We couldn’t have been happier with our choice of vendors – every one of them was incredible but particular mentions go to

Ben Carlyle – Our celebrant. He was so warm and funny and really set the mood for our ceremony.

Amelia Fullerton (photographer) and GOLDBEAR (videographer) – they provided us with the most amazing and irreplaceable memories of the day.

Jony from Big Leaf Boutique – an absolute wizard when it comes to his incredible foliage (that he grows himself). I explained to him what we were thinking and then he just went for it and it was more than we could have ever imagined – everyone was blown away!

Fig Tree Restaurant – the food was amazing. We opted for the share plate feasting style and it did not disappoint. There was so much food and everyone was raving about it. They even went to a lot of trouble to create Cam and I our own vegan menu which was delicious!

Byron Bay Weddings – in particular our planner Emily. We couldn’t recommend these guys more highly if you are thinking of having a Byron wedding. They are professional, organized and so lovely to work with. Nothing is too much trouble and everything was completely seamless.

Overall, what was your most favourite part of your wedding day and why?
The whole day was just magical but our favourite memories were the speeches and the dance floor; as soon as the music started, no one was sitting in their seats for the rest of the night!
