What vintage cars do you have on offer and how many people do they seat?
May the EK: May The E.K is a vintage 1962 EK Holden ‘Special’ Sedan. May is in the most incredible condition for her age; she is a classic beauty with her ‘Egyptian coral’ body, ‘Barrier Coral’ roof and incredible original chrome features. She really is a true stand out! The EK Holden was the first Holden to bring out the automatic transition, which they called ‘Hydromatic’ – just like the Grease Lightening song! May has so many beautiful features; like her original insta-worthy dashboard, the stars on her roof, the chrome aeroplane detail on her bonnet, perfect venetian blinds, incredible nostalgic smell and her all round glam vibe.
Byron Wedding Car Valiants: We have two beautiful lovingly very well restored 1965 Ap6 Valiants which I sometimes think of as husband and wife! The shiny alpine white sedan with light grey and white leather interior and trimmings is more feminine (Wife). The Metallic grey, white roof classic V8 Safari wagon with black leather interior with gold trimmings is a little more masculine (Husband). So… I generally associate the white vehicle with the Wife’s bridal party and the grey wagon with the groom’s. This is however not always the case and our brides have shown great interest in the sexy wagon as it offers a point of difference from traditional wedding cars and groom/groomsmen in the white sedan. So you can’t always generalise especially with the many same sex weddings that I am excited to see taking place in Byron Bay!
Byron Bay Kombis: We have two split-screen kombis.`Granny´is cream coloured and ´Peppy´is a mint coloured beauty. Both have been lovingly restored and not only transport 8 passengers plus the driver, but also a lot of nostalgic charm. They make people smile wherever they show up and exist as the perfect addition to any special occasion!
Forever Kombis: There’s room for the whole group in ‘Frankie’ & ‘Charlie’, our two beautifully restored vintage Kombis which seat 9 people (including your chauffeur). Frankie is also equipped with child car seat anchor points and can take up to two child car seats for any passengers under 7 years of age.
What luxury vehicles do you have on offer and how many people do they seat?
Byron Bay Luxe Limousines: We have all latest model luxury European cars, with full leather interior. A white Mercedes E class sedan (seats 4 guests), a white Mercedes Viano (seats 7 guests), a gun-metal grey Audi Q7 (seats 6 guests) and a gun-metal grey Mercedes Viano (seats 7 guests).
What is the history behind your cars?
May the EK: May is an EK Holden ‘Special’ Sedan made in 1962. When I bought May she came with a booklet with information collected from previous owners such as her original receipt of purchase in Sydney in June 1962, her adorable vintage NRMA driving record book and original registration stickers from the 60’s and 70’s which are the coolest retro colours. I am May’s 6th owner in 57 years, she has only done 31,000 miles (50,000 km!) which makes her very special. I bought her from a lady in country Victoria and had her towed up to Byron Bay in May last year. I recently spoke to the 4th owner of May who had won many Holden Club competitions with May in Sydney. He told me that when he had May no one had ever sat in the back seat and she had never been in the rain. She was covered in blankets in her shed for over 20 years!
Byron Wedding Car Valiants: The 1965 Ap6 factory v8 Safari wagon is a very rare car which I purchased in Sydney’s Northern Beaches about 3 years ago. I was driving past and saw it for sale on the side of the road at a popular car sale place (Newport Hill) and had to pull over immediately. I had always wanted one of these and decided it was time because I really did not want to miss out on this one…The car was was in amazing mechanical condition and the interior was also perfect. The exterior however, needed a bit of love so I got it resprayed in original colours with the white roof and kept all the original chrome and trimmings as well as very hard to find original roof racks. The previous owner had done most of the hard work – I just had to finish it off. I think this car has had 3 owners previous to me, hats off to them for keeping it in such good shape. This car takes 5 passengers.
The Ap6 white Sedan came about as I had been wanting to start this business for over 18 months and was searching across Australia for what I thought looked like the perfect vintage wedding car and saw this one for sale online in Melbourne. I was sure this was the one and that the two cars would compliment each other very well! So I flew down there and bought it and have not looked back since. It is in such amazing condition. I believe I am the 3rd owner. This car takes 4 passengers. Both cars get so many compliments and and they always get a conversation started as many people love old cars or have a story of there own!
Byron Bay Kombis: Granny came to us as a pretty big project. She is a Kombi from 1958; most parts needed to be overhauled in order to make her worthy of transporting our guests on their special day. From reupholstery to sandblasting and panel beating, she’s been through the lot! Peppy is our latest addition and came a long way from overseas with the steering wheel on the left. The two of them complement each other fantastically well!
Forever Kombis: Frankie is our most popular wedding Kombi hire – she is an iconic 1964, 11-window split screen Kombi which has been lovingly restored. Originally built in in the Australian VW factory in Melbourne in 1964, she has undergone a complete restoration and now has a beautiful exterior paint job, chrome trim, a full leather interior, pop out windows throughout and the super-cool front opening ‘safari’ windows (that you’re sure to get loads of smiles from passenger and onlookers!)
Charlie is the newest addition to our fleet and is a vintage 1966 German built Kombi that was imported into the USA where it spent it’s full life living in California with the one owner. After being imported to Australia in 2017 by our friends we could not pass up the opportunity to introduce her to weddings in the Byron Shire, so Forever Kombis became her third ever owners. She has loads of her original features and has had a sympathetic restoration (in keeping with her original features). The beautiful original sea blue colour is offset by chrome and white and has a lovely original styled interior with pop out windows, and of course the super-cool safari windows.

We have included this as a separate item in your quote.
How far in advance should couples book their bridal transport with you?
May the EK: Couples can book anywhere from a year in advance to last minute. I can usually move things around to help customers out. Of course being organised is great, but there are so many things to organise for a wedding that transport can sometimes be an after thought. But it really does make your day more special to have an experienced calm driver to drive you to the ceremony so you can just relax and enjoy the exciting trip to your wedding.
Byron Wedding Car Valiants: It is always a good idea to book a vehicle as far out from your wedding as possible this way you are nearly guaranteed not to miss out, however you can always try your luck at the last minute.
Byron Bay Kombis: Most people tend to book their transport a year in advance, others book a couple of months before. A deposit secures your booking and we block the date for you, which means that the sooner you book, the better the chances of us being available to transport you! But even if you’re out to find transport last minute, it’s always worth asking.
Byron Bay Luxe Limousines: We take bookings a season ahead, so are often booked out for weddings a year in advance but will always do our best to help couples out last minute in any way we can!
Forever Kombis: We take booking up to 24 hours prior to the day – but of course the earlier the better as you can then be assured of your choice of Kombi! We have a minimum 2-hour booking but you can always make your booking with us and secure your vehicle with a deposit and then sort out the details of the booking further down the track when you and your planner have more details confirmed. We only take one booking per Kombi per day so its easy for us to extend the booking if you need to.
Can your cars be used during the bridal shoot? Where are some great places around Byron Bay to photograph with your cars?
May the EK: Yes absolutely! I have come from a photography background and am always on the hunt for unique spots to shoot May The E.K. I really love helping couples find unique spots to shoot and always share this with the photographer on the day. Depending on where your wedding venue is and how much time you allow for photos, there are so many beautiful options in the area; from tropical palm tree spots, unique Hinterland hill top views and of course spectacular Byron ocean spots too.
Byron Wedding Car Valiants: The cars both photograph really well especially when professionally shot. I have done real wedding shoots, styled shoots and a recent shoot for surfstich. You can’t go past your classic Byron beach and light house locations as well as hinterland for photography, though they will always photograph well no matter where you choose.
Byron Bay Kombis: Our Kombis are super popular for bridal shoots and make the perfect backdrop. We normally figure out the best place to take pictures together with the couple itself and the wedding photographer. Popular spots are the Byron Bay Lighthouse, Wategos Beach, the old fig trees in Ewingsdale or even the backroads towards Bangalow that have an unbelievable scenery and landscape.
Byron Bay Luxe Limousines: Our cars often transport bridal parties for photo shoots, usually at the direction of the photographer, bride and groom. There are so many beautiful and unique places in the Northern Rivers.
Forever Kombis: Yes of course, that’s half the fun! This is where a Kombi comes in handy as we can take up to 8 passengers – the whole group – to photo locations where we keep the tunes playing and help look after you all so you have a great time. There are so many awesome spots in Byron for photos, from quiet country lanes and rolling hillsides to some awesome lush tree lined roads, amazing graffiti for a more edgy look and of course the gorgeous lighthouse and beaches… and in Spring, gorgeous Jacaranda season! At the end we return you all to the reception venue so you can start the party.
