Whether you have always had the vision in your head, or perhaps been captivated by some of the awe-inspiring images on Instagram, finding your perfect wedding venue is often the hardest part of the entire wedding planning process.
To help you on your journey we’ve come up with the top eight points to consider before you start your search.

1. Listen to Your Heart
It mind sound a bit cheesy, but you met and decided to wed based on a feeling. Celebrate your wedding at a place that gives you that feeling. Take your time viewing different properties until you get that feeling.

2. Your Wedding Style
Try and match what you have in mind in terms of styling and decorating with a venue that will complement and accentuate the look and feel you are after. It is easier, and much cheaper finding a venue that suits your look than trying to change a space into something it’s not.

3. Need Onsite Accommodation?
Not every property has accommodation as an option, but there might be somewhere beautiful and convenient to stay nearby. Focus on finding the perfect venue. There are always lots of accommodation options. To save you the stress and time, let your guests find their own.

4. Check What’s Included in the Price
Don’t assume everything is included in a venue hire fee. Each venue has set their pricing based on different factors. Ask questions at the get-go to make sure you are happy with your venue and you have factored in any extra costs. For example; are bathrooms, kitchens, cool rooms or catering equipment onsite or will you need to hire these in? We have online quotes available for each venue that provide this information.

5. Your Wedding Date
Are you flexible with days of the week? Often you can save yourself some pennies as certain venues do have mid-week discounts or a winter special rate. Also, think about an epic full moon and what the weather forecast is like at that time of year. Long weekends and public holidays might be great, but sometimes guests have to book a 3 or 5 night minimum stay if they are travelling.

6. Wet Weather Contingency Plan
It’s always nice to think that your day will be nothing but sunshine and blue skies, but save yourself stress down the track in case it isn’t. Choose a venue where you are happy with the wet weather back up plan. And never forget that your wedding day is about creating a future with your numero uno and not about rain or shine.

7. Put Together a Rough Guest List
To make sure the venues you are considering will accommodate your family and friends. Have four lists;
a) the essential
b) the ideal
c) the epic party; and
d) the list you would invite to your 10th year wedding anniversary!

8. Know Your Budget
This is an important one. Be realistic. There are many stunning spots out there, but if you honestly don’t have the budget to blow on the high end venues, drop it and start thinking about ways to work your style and theme into the ones you can afford. Save your energy and photo-stalking time for the other aspects of your wedding.
