Tell me about Byron Wedding Photography?
I work in a team of three super fab Byron girls who share a history in fashion photography, and now have over 10 years experience in wedding photography.
How would you describe your style?
Natural, personalized, fun and lively.
How many weddings do you average per year?
I like to do a maximum of 2 or 3 weddings per month. I feel that amount promotes creativity and allows me to approach each wedding with fresh eyes and enthusiasm.
Your company specializes in wedding photography. What is it like to capture such special moments for others?
If our couples burst into tears during a viewing (tears of joy, that is!), we know we’ve nailed it! Weddings would have to be the most rewarding facet of all photography. We LOVE what we do.
Do you have an assistant/2nd shooter that accompanies you on wedding assignments?
As leading photographers in Byron Bay, we have many enthusiasts who wish to work with us. After thorough screening and specific training, we are sometimes able to offer an extra set of hands at no charge.
Can you describe how and when you use flash, reflectors and natural light during a wedding?
As you can see in the display images, I love to work with the warm glow of natural light. There are moments that can be enhanced with a reflector or a little fill flash, but I like to capture the majority of the day naturally.
Where would be your dream destination wedding?
Morocco! Yes, perhaps that’s an odd response, but the long shadows, strong directional light and intricate architecture would make for an incredible setting.
Tell me about a unique experience you have had while photographing a wedding.
Once I was flown to Roros. A tiny, heritage-listed town in Norway, to photograph a wedding. It involved catching 4 planes, 1 train and a car ride with someone I had never met before. It was a little nerve racking, but one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve ever had. And the images prove it!
Tell me about a funny experience to do with wedding photography.
Once a groom booked me to photograph his wedding…. Three years later he asked me to photograph his second wedding!
Describe your typical day at work.
1. Fresh coffee!
2. Pack the car with camera gear, spare cameras, sunscreen, snacks and water.
3. Arrive at the wedding location half an hour early to get a feel for the light and location on that particular day.
4. Meet with an excited bride and start clicking!
5. Laugh, cry (I’m a shocker at ceremonies) and create a collection of images that people treasure forever.
6. Return home to download the images. - I always get sore cheeks, smiling at the great moments captured and created throughout the day.
What do you love the most about your job?
I love giving real people access to incredible images.
